Fried Green Tomatoes

Does anyone remember this movie?? If so, do you remember what they did to the husband who was beating his wife? Yeah, well, if you do, make a mental note the next time you eat BBQ, it could be something besides beef!!

Explain, Please!

I only have one word for her:

SKANK!!!

My weekend was filled with.....

I know it's Tuesday, but I have been busy damn it!! Here is what I spent most all of my weekend with -

- Canning, Freezing, More Canning, More Freezing!! Corn, Green Beans, Pickles, and Zucchini all done, for now, but .....

There's more of the crap growing in the garden, so I'm sure another weekend will be consumed by canning and freezing again!

Do You Like It??

How about that new music?? I had this app on MySpace for awhile, then removed it, and now have added it back. I put some oldies but goodies, some songs that remind me of high school, and some new stuff that I currently like.

So, for your listening pleasure....Enjoy the Music!!

What a Way to Go

You can read more about it here, but....

OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ Church members watching the steeple being raised on their new building looked on in horror Thursday as a crane holding the structure toppled, crushing a car and killing a 79-year-old man who had been watching from inside the vehicle, firefighters said.

WOW!!! I don't think anyone saw that coming. Poor old guy. He was probably someone's Grandpa, makes me feel really bad....

Sharing the Love

Now it is time to pass this lovely award on to another blogger to boast about. I thought about this for a long time and I believe that this person is deserving of the award. She and I went to high school together and haven't seen each other since then.
Courtney, at The Kocher's, this award goes to you. I enjoy reading about your trials and tribulations with two boys and the fact that your family will be expanding in a non-traditional way. Best of luck to all of the Kocher's on getting Baby Ella here soon!
Don't forget to pass it on to another one of your favorite blogger mommies!!

Do You Remember?

Does anyone remember when I said I had lost my Grandma Ferguson's senior picture?? Well, I did say that, and I still haven't found it.

But.....my mom had one and I stole it (well, not stole, but copied).

What a Hottie!!!

I guess that I need to clarify..... she is still with us...Alive and full of spunk at almost 82!!

Still a Hottie!!

Thanks!

A big Thank You to DeAnn @ Life is Good for the Blogger Award! I am so surprised!!

Now, who on Earth do I pass it on to??

Any suggestions?

Caution!!! If you take offense to curse words.....LEAVE NOW!!

Shout out to my friend, Amanda, in Mt. Carmel for sending me this. I couldn't resist - it is too stinking funny not to post!!

Using Some of Our Green

I knew I had to use up some of that whopper of a zucchini crop soon, so Grady and I made some Zucchini Bread. About the time the batter was done, he remembered he had this little get-up. So here's my Pampered Chef cutie-patootie!

On a side note, he also found something else that Chris and I forgot we had. Way (I mean way) before Grady was born, my grandpa scoured the retail stores looking for just the right gift for my then boyfriend (maybe even fiancee), Chris. He managed to make his Christmas dreams come true with the purchase of the ever entertaining Fart Machine.

I don't know where he came up with it, but Grady found it, insisted we buy new batteries for it, and now is the jokester of the household with it. He has even taken it to Granny's and pulled a few pranks on them. As you can tell by the photo, he thinks that thing is the funniest thing ever. You would think the kid has no toys!!

Bible School Dropout

Grady was so excited to start Bible School at Aunt's (Annette) church this week. Sunday was the first day. See the excitement on his little face??

Well, he did NOT want me to leave his side. "Momma, I neeeeeeeed you!" Talk about making a mommy feel terrible!! I went down the hall with him and his class and he went in the door and was fine. Then I hear, "Where's my momma? I need my momma!!" I went in and sat with him and his class. He knew no one there. I tried to buddy him up. Nothing. I tried to get him involved with the lesson for the night on the creation story. Nope.

Tonight he did not want anything to do with going to Bible School. Every time I mentioned it, he said he was too tired or that he just gave up. I keep telling myself that he is only 3. He didn't know anyone and I would probably be scared too.

Here's my question: How do I get my child to be more outgoing? How do I get him to understand that I will come back and he will be okay with other people and other kids?

Please Help!!

You Say Goodbye, I Say Hello

This is the bed Grady has had since he was 2 years old. He loves Thomas and sleeping in his Thomas bed. Lately, he has said he is too big for it and wants me to see how long he is in his bed. I'll admit, he was getting a little smooshed in there.

I had been wanting to get him a new bed and was prepared to go do some shopping. However, we had a twin size bed in our spare bedroom that Grady apparently had his eye on. I got off cheap! He said he liked the blankets that were on it because they had green on them. Even Cheaper! He loves his 'new' bed and has slept very well in it - only falling out once!

Like I always told my husband while we were dating - I'm cheap not easy!! I guess Grady gets that from his momma too.

I'm Turning Green

No, not that kind of green - although, I am trying. I am green from all the beans and zucchini I have gotten from my garden. Now, I am not griping - I am just a little achy from picking all this produce. I got 14 zucchini yesterday, 11 on Thursday, and they are still blooming!! Now the green beans are really coming on. Here's a picture of what 3 rows of picking did to my sink!

What's Going On With My Child??

I think Grady has officially become his father!!

He has a thing for my new pink Victoria's Secret bra. Everyday I have to make him go find it. He hides it under my bed every time though, so I don't know why I even ask anymore. Why does he do this?? Is he just fascinated by the color or do you think he's already a little boob man?
Or, oh my gosh, I just had a thought. It is like Marie said on Everybody Loves Raymond. He has a thing for boobs because he was breast fed!!
Have I done this to him??? Wow!! Something to think about before trying for more babies, huh?

TIMBER!!!

Grady just loves it when there are logs brought in to my dad's sawmill. The first time he ever went out to talk to his favorite log truck driver, Wilbur, he HAD to get his hard had and chainsaw. He even has a movie about lumberjacks, one which I am totally sick of seeing, and this makes him want to dress the part even more.
After all the stormy weather this spring/summer, we had some trees on the farm that needed cut up. So, Grady again grabbed his hard hat and chainsaw to come to his daddy's aid.

Scouting out his plan of attack.

Who Knew?

I saw last night on television that they discovered fossilized proof of a rain forest near Danville, Illinois.

Crazy, huh? Who woulda thunk it??

RIP Fluffy Girl/Boy

We bought Grady this rabbit at Mikeworth's in Robinson last fall. It was just a little fur ball and he HAD to have this little cage to carry it home in. Too cute! (I cannot for the life of me find the picture on my computer or in my photo albums to show you though.) We were told it was a girl. Man, were we surprised when we put the boy bunny in the cage with it to try and make baby bunnies!!

So, long story short.

My dad is eating Fluffy for supper one night this week.

Where Did He Get This From?

I took a picture of this incident on my phone, but I have not a clue or the capabilities to get the picture from the camera to the computer.

On with the story...

Last night Chris and Matt went fishing all night and Grady and I went on a "date" to Dairy Queen. When we came home, our neighbor called and warned me in case Grady was sleeping that he would be shooting off some fireworks. My child has not been going to bed this week until 10 or 11!! So, not a problem there.

Grady and I went to get the step stool from my closet, so that he could sit on it by his bedroom window and watch the fireworks. In the process, he got a pair of my high heeled shoes out and clomped around in the living room before finally making it to his own room with them luckily still intact.

Here's the kicker...

Grady: Momma, you know what these are called? (raising his foot for me to see the shoes)

Me: No, what are they called Grady?

Grady: These are fashion models!!

So True

I have officially sold my child into slavery

What's more fun than playing with the water hose on a hot summer day?
Plus, I got a car wash out of it too!

Conversation with Grady

Grady: When will Tristan come?

Me: I don't know, you'll have to call Uncle Trav.

Grady: No, you call Trav!

Me: No, if you want to know, you call Trav.

Grady: Okay, go get your damn phone!

Me: What did you say.

Grady: Nothing. Sorry Momma.

Will You Partake?

****First, and foremost - NO - I will not be partaking!!****
I heard on the radio that this is
Nude Recreation Week!!
July 7-13, 2008

Can you believe there is such a thing?? They even have a website:

If not for anything else, you HAVE to check out the website to laugh at the pictures!!

Things I would not recommend doing during Nude Recreation Week are:

  • frying bacon
  • welding
  • using the weed eater
  • sliding on a metal slide
  • lighting a sparkler

Any other suggestions for those of you who might be joining in the celebration?

Horrible Parents We Are

Okay, I know most of the people who read this are probably parents. If you're not, then you will someday understand - I hope.

Grady had gotten a balloon at Hooter's while in St. Louis. This poor thing was on it's last leg. Chris decided to try to twist it in half and make it into a snowman. Well, you know what happened. It popped.

Now we are in a pickle. We have a BAWLING 3 year old. I mean crocodile tears and all. What is a parent to do??

Can you tell by the picture what the horrible parenting decision was??

If you guessed blowing up a condom and letting our child play with it, you're right!! Poor little guy!! He kept asking what that pointy thing was on the end. I felt awful!! But, I couldn't help but laugh!

You Said What???

"Men should always change diapers. It's a very rewarding experience. It's mentally cleansing. It's like washing dishes, but imagine if the dishes were your kids, so you really love the dishes."

- Chris Martin, aka Mr. Gwyneth Paltrow

HUH??? I don't guess I see my child as dishes or poop as rewarding. Maybe I'm wrong here.

I bet you haven't heard this fish story before!

I am not a fisherwoman by any means, but this fish was not a hard one to catch.

Here's my story....

Chris and I were planning on taking Grady on Sunday to what we call the Lily Pond to go fishing/boat riding. He fell asleep about a mile from home. So, we put his life jacket on and let him ride asleep. We then called Chris's nephew, Josh, to see if he would like to come along. Since we are the coolest aunt and uncle he has, he gladly left his friends and joined us. ;)

We were just floating along, going as slow as a boat can go with the trolling motor, and BAM!!!!! This giant fish jumped in our boat!! NO SHIT!!!! I have heard stories about the jumping carp in the Lily Pond, but never witnessed it. Now, remember Grady was asleep in the boat. This thing narrowly missed landing on him. The only thing that got him was it's tail, and man did it slime him. It scared the crap out of him. Those were his exact words.

So, after Josh beat the fish half to death with an oar, we made it back to shore and of course the boys had to weigh it. 17 pounds!!! Could you imagine a 17 pound fish just deciding to jump in the boat with you??? Me either, but holy moly, what a trip!!

Here is Josh and our BIG Catch!

4th of July

We had a little get together on the 4th at our house. It was mainly family with a couple and their kids over too. Everyone had a good time. The kids wore me out just watching them run in circles and pedaling the trike/pedal tractor. Oh, to have that much energy!!

Grady and his sparkler.

Dawson and a couple of sparklers (okay, I cheated - this picture is from last week - they all moved to fast for me to capture everyone with a sparkler)

The gang's all here! Grady - Dawson - Tristan

WOW!! Look at that one!!

One more thing about the zoo

Can you believe that this little dab of food cost us $6?!?!?

Now that is sleepy - Take 2

Finally...

After being home a week, you would think I would have time to get all this posted, but I didn't. No excuses, just lazy I guess!!
We stayed at the Drury Inn at Union Station. I would recommend it to anyone with a family on a budget. They offer a buffet breakfast and Happy Hour in the evenings with your stay. Boy, did we take advantage!!
Future Hotel Lobby Greeter - Grady had to push it all the way to our room after the elevator.
Who can't resist jumping on the bed at the hotel?

One of the trains at Union Station

The first night we walked to the Arch. It was about a mile from the hotel.

WE WALKED = DUMB
I say that not only because we have a 3 year old, but because my husband was carrying a pocket knife that they didn't approve inside the Arch. They must think he looks like a terrorist. They wouldn't hold on to it for us and said if we tried to stash it anywhere on the grounds we would be caught and fined $150. So, we started walking back and noticed a horse and carriage ride. We took it back to the hotel. Grady liked it and wants his Uncle to start taking him horse and carriage rides around our farm. Not gonna happen.
Day Two we went to the Magic House and the Zoo. We had been to the zoo twice before, so we really should have saved our money, but Grady really wanted to see the Dinoraurus exhibit they had going on and make a Dinosaur at the Build A Bear. We are suckers, and we only have one child, so we gave in.
The Magic House was okay. I had been there when I was a kid. It was nothing like I remembered it. Grady liked some of it and other things were over his head.

Come on Mom...... Quit with the pictures already!

This is my husband's face and hand. Funny. Grady and I at the static ball. He didn't like the feeling of his hair standing up.

At Build A Bear - Making T Saurus Rex

My wild child, the only child at the zoo chasing the animals.

After the zoo, Grady was beat. He fell asleep in the car probably 2 blocks from the parking lot. That evening we definitely needed to take advantage of the Happy Hour. We woke Grady up and he was a GROUCH! Needless to say, he didn't want to be at Happy Hour and ended up spilling Bloody Mary all over the both of us. Chris cleaned it up and the management gave him an extra free beer for the night.

We walked (I know, dumb again - we didn't learn our lesson) to Hooter's that night and ate supper. Grady did NOT want to take a picture with those girls, much to his father's dismay. However, he did get a sweet little shirt!

On the way, someone had to pee. When a 3 year old says he has to go, you better find a spot.

Finally okay with his dad's choice for supper.I don't know if you can see it or not, it says, "Sorry, I only date Hooter's girls"

We swam at the pool and left then on Day Three. We did end up being able to go up in the Arch. Chris left his pocket knife in the car, as we drove this time. So, no run-ins with the law.

I love vacation, but I sure do hate getting home and doing all the laundry!!

A Little Behind

With the holiday weekend here, I find myself lacking in getting my vacation pictures uploaded. Oh, well. Here is a little taste....

Some very nice woman took our picture in the Arch. She didn't even feel the need to charge us like the people working there did!

Happy 4th!!

Hope everyone enjoys their day off and remembers why we celebrate in the first place. Think of our soldiers today as they fight for freedom!
Oh, and don't forget to eat a hot dog!

Thinking of You....

I know several people have shown their support for Lisa French in the online blog world lately. I just wanted to take a moment to join in that effort. Please keep her in your thoughts as she continues her battle with cancer. She has had a long, hard fight. My thoughts go out to her and her family and I hope that yours do too.

A Girl's Best Friend After a Bad Day at Work

I'm Vacationed Out

We went on our little getaway this past weekend. It had it's ups and downs. Mostly ups.
I'll post more as soon as I get my pictures loaded. Lots of things to share.

If I Had One Wish...

I think it would be for a certain person to disappear off the face of the earth and never be missed.

There.

That's all.
