Snow Fun

My Guess Was a Little Off

NOT 7 INCHES --- CLOSER TO 9!!!

Holy Snowballs!!

And it's still snowing!!! I can't wait for Grady to wake up and see it! So far, I'm guessing 7 inches. The weather man says that it's supposed to keep snowing till noon. Wow!! I haven't seen this much snow since I was a kid. I'm so excited to let Grady play in it. But, I don't think his snow boots will be tall enough.
I have been up since 4:20 am. Chris leaves for work about that time and I couldn't go back to sleep knowing that there was this much snow for him to travel through. He did call to say he had made it there. Poor Guy only had crocs to get to the garage in. He took the broom and kinda swept himself there. I had him bring in my boots so I wouldn't be in the same boat.
Hope everyone enjoys their snow day. I know I am so far!!

He Really Does Have Ears

Those of you who have children know that sooner or later they stop listening to you. I hoped for later, but it has already started.

Then, like children do, they prove you wrong.

Last night, I was in the kitchen raiding the chocolate stash. I told Chris, "You can tell I'm on my period, because all I want to eat is chocolate." Low and behold, the child's ears are working and Grady pipes up and says, "Me too. I think I'm on my period. I want chocolate."

Last week, Christina left me a comment saying I had something to pick up at her blog. It was an award!! Yeah for me!! While I have never met Christina, it has been really neat to get to know one another through our blogs. Thank you Christina for the award!

My New Favorite Comedian

Jeff Dunham....I love his character, Walter, the one in the middle picture.
Walter tells it like it is and doesn't hold anything back. He reminds me of my dad.
It's too funny.

Is it just me?

Do these things keep getting smaller?
Our microwave shot craps yesterday and we cannot....will not....live without one for another day. Grady and I are off to go find one of mass proportions. Our family (Grady) is lost without it to have corn dogs. Seriously, I think that is all he likes anymore.

FINALLY SNOW!!!

This week was so cold, it's about time we see some snow instead of ice and wind!!

Today we had fun in the woods climbing up in a tree stand, playing on a snow covered swing set, ice skating on Aunt's pond and finally seeing some pretty snowfall.

Always the last to know

I guess I am the last to find out that ABC cancelled one of my favorite shows.

Dirty Sexy Money (along with Pushing Daisies and Eli Stone, which I never watched) was cancelled.

UGGGHHHHH!!! WHY???

I am so disappointed. Grey's Anatomy hasn't really been that great lately either.

Maybe I should just stop watching that channel altogether.

Check or No Check

I know this hasn't been in the news a lot lately, but really. I would hold up a sign with this guy. Where is our money? Seems like all the big companies got some, what about the little man?

I found this picture after searching for information about a possible 2009 stimulus check. I heard of the possibility for a new round of checks and thought I would see what the cyber world could tell me about it. I still don't know. I would very much like to have another round of checks.

Mr. Obama, please help me out!!

Just a note...

My mom's surgery has so far been successful. She hasn't had the pain she was in yet. She is moving very slowly still and is hard to keep from doing a lot. I try to keep the whip cracked on her, but you can only do so much to your own mother, you know. She has a follow up visit next week and hopefully will know for sure what her next step towards a full recovery is.

Thanks to all for their thoughts and prayers!!

Wall-E

Has anyone else tried to watch this movie? I got it this week from Netflix (I heart Netflix!!). Grady and I got about 15 minutes into it a couple nights ago and couldn't get interested. If you have seen it and think we should try again, please let me know.

What a Party!

Grady's party was a blast. I think at one point there were 18 people in our little bitty house! Crazy! Pizza, cake and ice cream later....I was worn out. Grady on the other hand, he didn't go to sleep until after midnight! What??? Does being 4 mean you can stay up that late? Oh, well. We had a great time. Thanks to everyone for the gifts and for being there to help Grady celebrate.

This is the scene right after he blew out his candle. My original plan was to let Grady eat the volcano anyway, but he got to it before I could REMOVE it from the cake. Boys will be boys.

Happy Birthday Kara!

I am SO ready for our night out for your birthday....I hope you don't feel as bad tomorrow as you did the day after this picture was taken!! Happy Birthday!!

Cake's Done!

Another birthday cake goes down in the history books!

Thought for the day...

Handle every stressful situation like a dog.

If you can't eat it or hump it....piss on it and walk away.

Watch Out, Amber!!

Grady just might be next in the photo biz! Chris and I got him his own digital camera for his birthday. He took 85 pictures from the time he opened it until we got to McDonald's last night. Holy Cow! I might as well buy stock in Energizer now!

Cake

As I sit her typing away, I am thinking I should be starting Grady's cake. Not much motivation yet this morning. Maybe I should talk to DeAnn about that! (Great motivational post by the way, DeAnn!)

So, I thought about the cake some more and decided to visit cakes from the past 3 birthdays. I have been making Grady's cakes all along. I'm not a Betty Crocker by any means, but I think looking at these has put me in the mood to get busy!

By far, my most courageous cake. I made a practice one for my dad's birthday that year. That was the last time I practiced. I got so discouraged I almost trashed the idea altogether. Grady got his own hay bale to eat. I don't know if he even had a piece of the barn.

On his second birthday, I was working somewhere other than for my dad. This was a last minute kind of cake. I couldn't make up my mind what to do, so this was as creative as it got. I cut so much of the cake off making the number 2 that there was barely enough to go around. I don't think my mom or I either one got any cake for that party.

Last year, McQueen was all Grady talked about. There was no doubt in my mind what I would do for a cake then. The green icing for the infield stained Grady's lips. Oh, well...he looked cute even with green lips.

This year....dinosaurs. Grady has turned into the know it all about dinosaurs. Any time we are surfing through the guide on TV, he asks if there is any dino shows on. The science channel has overruled Nickelodeon. Not a complaint really, but I don't care for either one very much.

Stay tuned....Dinosaur cake is on it's way!

Happy Birthday Sugar Bean!

Grady woke up at 5:30 this morning. His actual birthday occured at 5:51 am. So, I sang him Happy Birthday at the actual time he was born. And then I cried.....I'm a bit of a cryer. It is just unreal to me how fast he has grown up.

Pictures from the last 4 years....again time flies when you're having fun! Grady, I can't believe you were ever that small!!

Momma hopes you have many more happy birthdays. I hope today is extra special for you. You will be at school (wouldn't want to spoil you and let you stay home!). I'm sure Angie will have a special treat for you!

Grady's party is tomorrow night. I still have to make the cake after work. I know...nothing like waiting until the last minute!! Tonight, watch out McDonald's, here we come!!
***Thanks to Amber at Photo Graphics for the #4 photo!!***

Time flies when you're having fun!

Four years ago today, I was admitted to the hospital for the first time in my life. I would have never guessed the joy that overwhelmed me after being there 16 hours (that felt like an eternity) and enduring countless pokes, prods and checks of regions of my body I didn't know could be checked that thoroughly.

I woud go through all that over again to have my handsome little man. Grady, you have been the biggest accomplishment of my life thus far. Everyday you make me feel prouder to be your momma. I love you Grady Sawman. I hope you know how much!

***Just for the record....I tried to upload my favorite baby picture of Grady, but Blogger wouldn't let me because I had some kind of internal error.....maybe it's trying to tell me something.

A Must Read

Grady and I spent some time at the library yesterday. He wanted to read about dinosaurs and diggers and books with WAY too many words for me to be reading in a quiet voice. So, we did read a few and then picked some out to take home. I came across a book EVERYONE should read. So freakin' funny!! This poor dog reminded me of our dog, Gus. He just farts and stinks and is still happy and wagging his tail. Gotta love that Walter. I saw online there are more Walter books. We might have to scour the library for some more adventures of Walter the Farting Dog.

Update

Mom is out of surgery. The doctor said all went well. He wants to wake her up quickly and make sure her pain down her leg is gone. If not, he told my dad that if she has any pain at all he would be doing another surgery this afternoon to remove the disc above where they did the fusion.

Please let this do the trick. I want my old momma back. Grady wants Granny to feel better too.

My Momma and Daddy

My mom is on her way to Indy for her 4th back surgery.

Tomorrow she will be having a spinal fusion done. They are going in beside her belly button since there is too much scar tissue on her back from previous surgeries. I know she is extremely nervous about this procedure and hopes it can take away all her pain. I do too. She has been miserable for awhile now and I would wish her kind of pain on no one.

Today is my dad turns 50!! Holy Cow!! Dad, you old fart! Sorry you have to spend your birthday on the road. Maybe you can at least catch a good meal on the way. Enjoy the hotel stay too. Keep my momma safe and give her a great big hug and kiss from us!

Love you guys! Good Luck Mom!

Agree to Disagree

I have decided to agree to disagree. There, I am being the better person and saying so.

No more stress. That is my new year's resolution. Quit following me, Stress!!

Now, how do I cope with it when it comes around? Any suggestions.

Yoga? Tried it. I don't think my body is meant to do some of those things. Smoking? NO WAY! Tried that for awhile too. Not again. Drinking? Okay, sometimes. But not for me either. I get too loopy too quickly. Deep breaths? Um, I think I might hyperventilate. Or have flashbacks of being in labor. What's left?

Tattle tale

Apparently I have a blog reader (an unidentified one) who is a bit of a tattle tale.

I just got a phone call from Tristan's mom about the biting incident. She said someone read my post and told her about it.

She says she didn't tell him to bite Grady. Whatever.

SO....to the unidentified reader.... if you want to man up and reveal yourself, that would be nice. Much nicer than being childish and tattle telling.

Poor Payton!

The Colts lost! The Colts lost!

Poor Payton.....Boo Hoo! I hope you cry.

I love it, I love it, I love it!

Friday, January 2, 2009

Okay, Now I am REALLY pissed!

If you thought I was pissed reading about what she did to my momma, read on.....it gets better!!

Tonight, my mom and I got haircuts. Grady stayed at her house. We get home from town and Grady said, "Momma, T-Bone bit me!!! Really hard!!"

I know Tristan has bit him before, hard. That, I thought, was a one time deal and he wouldn't do it again.

No, I was wrong.

My dad said, "There's more. Just ask Tristan."

So I did. He proceeded to tell me the rest of the story after being asked why he bit Grady. He said, "Mommy said 'Bite Grady.'"

Well, isn't that special. The bond between a mother and child.

I sit here typing this and my hands are shaking. My heart is pounding. My breathing is terribly fast. And I learned of his over 2 hours ago!!!

What on Earth gives her the right to tell a 2 year old to do such a thing?? Why? Does this give her some sick satisfaction? Is this a game? I mean, isn't that like some sort of child abuse? If not, it damn well should be.

I tell you what, honey, I assure you it is not a game. You done chose the wrong team to play.

This is really getting old. I wonder what's next.

How The Bergbowers Rang in the New Year

We knew we wouldn't make it to midnight!!

This is the scene at our house at 10 pm.

Grady beating on pans in the living room for half an hour.
By the looks of the pans, I am kinda wishing I hadn't gotten out of the Pampered Chef Business!

Yippee! Happy New Year!

And then we went to sleep.
