First Day

Here are highlights from my mini photo shoot with Grady this morning before his first day of preschool.
Right before his alarm went off. He insisted he get his own alarm clock so he could get up on time.
Doing his own hair.

Checking to make sure he brushed good.

Now hairspray.

Tim McGraw cologne

Waiting patiently on mom and her camera.

My favorite picture of the morning.

Can't you see it on his face, "NO MORE PICTURES!!!" Seriously, that's what he was telling me. I didn't stop though.

I had to force this one on him. At least he smiled.

The best buddies together. Forget about you mom. I had to ask for a kiss.

I had the hard time leaving. I kinda wanted him to want me, you know? He says he had fun, but won't tell me anything they did. I know they had cereal for a snack and played on the playground, but couldn't climb the rock wall unless their mom or dad was there. All of this I learned from the moment the boys got in the car, but it was from Dawson. Grady said he didn't want to talk about it. And he doesn't want to go back tomorrow. I have a feeling I could take the same type photos again in the morning and he will be more than happy to stay and maybe he'll leak me some preschool gossip tomorrow.

My Baby's Going to School

Not just Angie's with Miss Staci. He's going to big school. His words, not mine.

Either way, I'm sad today. I can't believe my little 4 pound 13 ounce bundle of joy that I just brought home from the hospital yesterday is big enough to be going to school. I always heard they grow up so fast when I was a kid. Sorry Mom, I guess they do. I can only imagine how it feels looking at it from your perspective. Your baby's baby is going to school!!

If I can fight back the tears and accompanying snot, then I will post pictures later today.

Playdate with Miss Lillian

Grady's old girlfriend Lilly and her mom and baby brother joined us at the park today for a playdate. We had so much fun! Socializing all around!
Don't they make the cutest little couple?

Sneaking up on kids when they are least expecting it makes for priceless photos!

All tuckered out!

But they still had some energy to play in the fountain

And don't forget Baby Dalton!
Thanks Karla for coming in town to join us....we have to do it again...when it cools down!

1st Trip to the Dentist

Grady's first trip to the Dentist went way better than my last! He was super brave and I was super proud! It also helped that Grady had someone who helped clean my teeth when I was little cleaning his. She couldn't believe that was possible!
Waiting on the fun to begin

Counting all his teeth...sorry Jhonda, I couldn't get his picture without you in it!

He loved Mr. Thirsty!

All smiles and showing off those pearly whites, not to mention he was a walking billboard for Matt Poss!

Where did the time go?

Can you believe this little boy will be going to preschool next week?
I am in denial.

Shedding a New Light on Litter

If you are part of the population who is having sex in our state park, please throw away your wrappers. Oh, and the dead soldier you happened to whip off a foot from the trash can might be a good one to throw in too. I feel sorry for the park rangers who have to clean up after you and am in hopes that the state provides them with rubber gloves. My 4 year old is very curious and does not like having the palms of his hands scrubbed repeatedly because of the fact he wanted to know what kind of balloon it was you had left lying there and picked it up to have me inspect it. That is just plain out disgusting. Not only that you had to either have sex in or on your vehicle or the very publicly available picnic table that I will never again use without a tablecloth, but the fact that you left the evidence for God and everyone to see. I hope the sex was worth it, since you obviously wanted the world (or at least Sam Parr) to know you got some.

It's Here

Grady's caterpillar became a beautiful butterfly this past week. It wasn't a monarch like we had hoped, but still an amazing thing for my 4 year old to watch happen.
He, however, was not too keen on the idea of letting it go. He said he wanted it to stay in our yard forever so he could come out and say hi everyday.

I think he's already forgotten about the poor thing.

More Manly Photos

Finally....Chris says the camera has paid for itself!

It caught it's first deer with HORNS! And a momma turkey and her babies (guys I know that is not correct terminology, but it's my blog and I'll call them what I want!). You might have to click on the photos to get zoomed in on them to see how big the one buck is.

Finally a G

While blog stalking one of Sarah D's friends, I found a wonderful picture of her last name that had been done with photos of different letters out in the world. Like a tire being an O, a railroad sign being an X and so on. I have become obsessed!! Do you know how hard it is to find a G out there?? Well, finally I found one!! After I print these in black and white and either find a mat with 5 spaces or a floating frame I like, this will be hung in Grady's room.

Grady's Find

While 'helping' pull weeds on Tuesday, Grady found this caterpillar.
As luck would have it, one of his 'prizes' at Chuck E. Cheese this past weekend was a bug box you could decorate. I figured it would be full of dead lightening bugs at most. Today, the caterpillar made its chrysalis (Grady knew the word from watching Miss Spider, I had to look it up!) and will be in it for 10 days before becoming a beautiful Monarch Butterfly! We can't wait!

One from the Hubby

Here's one for my male readers, if there are any!!

Chris is super excited to finally get some good pics from his trail camera. I am a little shocked to get more than deer and blank screens. I think this is a good location for another round!

Our Weekend Getaway

Thursday evening we headed south to Evansville for the weekend. We stayed at our favorite hotel, Drury Inn. Gotta love the free drinks of an evening and wonderful breakfast in the morning! Our fist stop was Chuck E. Cheese. Grady had never been there (could have went last year, but threw a fit so I kept on driving right past it). To say the least, we had fun.

After seeing these cups at the register, Grady thought he needed one.

He would have rather played in these tunnels than anything....and they didn't take tokens...go figure!

Chris and I got a good sketch of ourselves done. Grady wouldn't hold still long enough to have him in it too. And he kept putting his face right up to the camera and rooting us out of the picture.

Grady and The Big Cheese...he was a little skeptical....so was I.
This man probably deserves his own post altogether. I had to sneakily take his picture. While we were playing skeeball, he was sitting and watching his child/grandchild play games and as we turned to walk his way.....he let the grossest sounding fart I have ever heard in my life!!! He just sat there all sprauled out in this plastic booth and cut one! At Chuck E. Cheese with a gob of people around!! I said EXCUSE YOU and he looked at me like he didn't even know what he had done! Maybe I shouldn't be so hard on him....that pizza did a number on my stomach too!
Day 2...Holiday World
Grady did get to talk to Santa this year. He was much braver than last. Don't know if he told him a wish list or that he just wanted to ride the log ride.

First ride of the day....Bumper Boats. He was the very first rider of the day so he thought he was hot stuff!

Ahh....the log ride. Grady loved it!! However, I was too tight to pay 7.99 for a photo of us on it, so I took a picture of their picture! I thought buying the 40 dollar tickets stimulated the economy enough.

After the river rapids...he was the wettest person on our boat! He walked like he was gaulded until he dried out a little.

The last baby ride he was on. He said he didn't mind that he wasn't tall enough to do a lot of the rides, but seeing his face while the little rides were going....I'm thinking he's outgrown a lot too. Don't get me wrong, he liked it, but I think he was a little bored with the constant circles. Maybe dizzy too.
I think he could have spent all day in the little playground area. We couldn't hardly get him out of those rope climber things.
It was a fun weekend and it was nice to go away without anyone (ME) getting sick and having to come home. I think we are gonna skip Holiday World next year and try somewhere new. Then maybe in a couple years Grady will be tall enough for us to have a little bit more exciting rides. Any suggestions?
