Fire Ring

This is for you Sarah D
My father-in-law's weenie roasting ring. Chris had a guy at work cut out JW BERGBOWER in the metal. I had a nighttime picture, but it was taken on my cell phone and you know how good the quality must be.

Deep Thoughts

“If you're in a war, instead of throwing a hand grenade at the enemy, throw one of those small pumpkins. Maybe it'll make everyone think how stupid war is, and while they are thinking, you can throw a real grenade at them.”
... by Jack Handy

Another One Bites the Dust

Pitchman Billy Mays died Sunday at age 50.
Reports show heart attack, but Chris thinks the Sham-Wow guy had something to do with it.

Because of this....

....we now have swimmer's ear. Yes, we. Grady and I both went to see Melinda yesterday and got the news. Poor little man wouldn't hardly let me help him get his shirt on because of his ear hurting so badly.
On a more funny note, Grady was convinced to make it feel better, she would be cutting his ear off.

Happy Birthday Little Brother!

This picture pretty much sums up how my brother and I got along growing up. I'm glad to say that this is not how things are now. There's no hair pulling involved anyway.
A birthday message from Grady:
Remember that time you drew a circle around my belly button and made a smile face on my belly? I like petting your new friend Lizard. I hope you like your new rabbit, Tippy. Happy Birthday Uncle Trav!
We Love you Trav....Hope it's a Good One!

New Camera = New Pictures

I didn't find the exact one that I had researched and drooled over online, but this one will do quite nicely. It has a larger lens than my old one, making zooming in on things look like I am a spy or something! I am very happy with picture quality and clarity. A sampling of my trigger happy moments as I pointed and shot all day!

My own Opie Taylor, makes me want to whistle.

Blue Gill in Granny and Papa's pond after Grady's bait.

A beautiful sky painted on the water...no rain in sight!

Best buddies who coordinate their fair attire.

Forgot One

Ed McMahon
Out of all the celebs who left us this week, he was by far my favorite.

I loved Carson and his on-screen comraderie.
But, he never came to my house with the Publisher's Clearinghouse!!

Late Icons

Farrah Faucet died today at age 62.

Michael Jackson died today at age 50.
Two major pop icons died today.
Cancer sucks.
Not sure what happened to Jacko yet, although I'm sure it was something odd or plastic surgery related.

Father's Day Fun

All the storms later in the day aside, Father's Day was great for our family.

Chris got his camo fishing sunglasses and some light thing to wear on his hat for fishing at night. He was happy as a clam. Chris's Dad got a fire ring with his name cut out of the metal (Chris had it made at work). He was happy as a clam. My dad got Mexican beer. Again, happy as a clam.

We didn't get to have a weenie roast with Chris's dad because of the nasty weather, but we will play catch up when it dries out. That is one of our families favorite things to do on the farm.

So, how did we spend Father's Day? At Mom and Dad's pond. It was H - O - T hot!! There was no question about what to do. Boating made it even better with the breeze blowing in your hair. Mom caught enough fish the day before to feed everyone (well, except for me, I cannot *will not* eat fish and I got chicken) and we had french fries and hush puppies to go with. Kinda funny though, the dad's ended up cooking everything!!
A few pictures of our fun in the sun day:
Grady and his Daddy swimming. That little booger just takes off as long as he's wearing his life jacket.
T-Bone's review of the day: 1 thumb up

My brother diving off the back of the pontoon boat. He got a little crispy on the front side of his legs. You can only imagine seeing how white the back sides are! Hope you're not sore little brother!

A Little Help Here

Not sure what happened, but my guess is my camera is officially shot.

I can turn it on, but it refuses to zoom. It tells me to turn it off and try again.

Help!! If you know that it can be fixed, please tell me how. If you know that I need to throw it in the dumpster and try again with another camera, please tell me which one I should buy!

So far all my digital cameras have been gifts and met my expectations for that time period. Now I want something good! I don't want something bulky, although I would love the zoom a bulkier camera had to offer. And, of course, there is the price tag. Nothing outrageous!

Leave me a comment and give me a little help here.

A (Very) Few Highlights

Aside from my sickliness, we did have a few good moments on our trip north this past weekend.

Like eating at Gino's Pizza where you can write all over everything, not to mention pretty good food.

Then there was Grady's first view of a beach. Even though it wasn't the ocean it was neat for him. Notice the jacket....it was freezing cold up there. 50 degrees on June 6th. We had to go buy jackets. Who would think to pack heavy clothes in June? Also, if you can see it, Grady is pointing with his middle finger. Just one of his little things....don't know if there's any sense to break it just yet, he doesn't know it could be offensive. Why tell him?
And then there was Build-A-Bear. We love that place. I think it was Grady's 4th Build-A-Bear experience. He's pretty proud. He made a dog, named Poodle. Its more like a Mutt, but oh well.

Story Time

Grady signed up for the library story hour (which isn't really stories by the way). Tuesday was the first day.

He said he liked it at first, then he said he wanted to go home.

You tell me if it doesn't look like a good time. I think that machine would be great come tee peeing season!!

What Vacation?

This past weekend we were supposed to be getting away from reality. Supposed to be taking it easy for a change from the last two weeks worth of events.

Reality came and bit us in the ass!

We loaded up about 10 Saturday morning and headed north to Chicago. Field Museum, Navy Pier, Lake Michigan here we come!

All was well Saturday until after we got back to the hotel from supper and a short trip to see the lake and a brief stop at the Pier. Then comes the reality biting part. I felt horrible. Think not being able to keep either end away from the toilet. It was awful. I was up all night doing one or the other and my stomach was doing flip flops.

We thought we would play it by ear and see if I was better a little later in the morning. That didn't work. I tried to take a shower and ended up almost passing out. Chris had to physically take me out of the shower and put me back in the bed to make that feeling go away.

Needless to say, we didn't end up staying in Chicago any longer. I felt horrible for Grady who had been dying to see dinosaur bones. Oddly enough his only concern was that he didn't get to take a taxi ride.

I slept most of the way home and again for about 4 hours after we got home. I wasn't able to drink or eat and still felt dizzy/lightheaded when I stood up, so Chris made the executive decision to take me to the ER. 5 hours, a bag of IV fluids and $75 later....I feel better. Somewhat better, still a little nauseous when I try to eat.

I still shudder every time I think of what I ate...and if it gave me the bug I had. And if it wasn't anything I ate, what the hell was it??

I would love to go back and do the things we didn't get around to, but right now Chris is not in any way discussing it. I think he thinks Chicago has a hex on him or something.

Good Reads

First, let me thank Miss Kristan at the library for recommending such a good book when I needed a laugh and something to get my mind away from another situation.

Second, let me retract that thanks because I am addicted. Yes, I am hooked now on this series of books. I have read 4 of them in less than a week. I am now done with number four and HAVE to get to the library TODAY and get then next ones. There are fifteen in the series, with number fifteen coming out this summer and Kristan has already got me on a list. She's an enabler, I tell you!

There is suspense, comedy, and romance all rolled into one. Not smut by any means. Kind of sexual tension between two of the main characters. They are addictive, have I mentioned that?

Any-hoo......if you need a good book, you might try this one out to start with, but be careful....you might get caught up in them like me!
