A Little Happy, A Little Sad

I'm a little happy today for many reasons.

  • Today is Grady's preschool end of the year program. He has been singing all the songs and doing the motions for them at home all the time.

  • Last night was his first T-Ball practice. He picked a lot of grass when he was supposed to be learning about being a right fielder. But, he came home and called his Papa and said it was the bestest sport ever.

  • Another happy feeling is because of the fact I am (this close) to being 19 weeks pregnant. It is becoming a lot more real that we are half way to being new parents again.

Then there is the sad. No bullets necessary. Just straight to the point. One year ago, I was told that the child I was carrying no longer had a heartbeat. I never thought in my wildest dreams that miscarriage would happen to me. But, it did. And I have survived the year, never forgetting what might have been with that baby. Seeing babies that are the age ours would have been hurts so bad. Yes, it has gotten easier throughout the past months due to the baby I am currently pregnant with. This pregnancy is not a replacement though. It is a new life that will know about the angel watching over them.

Love It!!

Our little pumpkin is already getting some new items. How exciting!!

Thanks to Sarah for this awesome onesie that is so very true and for providing such a good selection of diaper bags too. I'm sure baby boy will appreciate that the bows came off.

75 - 80% Sure

I had a doctor's appointment today. Didn't figure it would be anything more than hearing the heartbeat and asking any questions I had. I was in for a surprise.

The doctor said he thought I was measuring a little bigger than I should be and wanted to know if I was sure about my last period. I said yes and he said he thought I should have an ultrasound. YIPPEE!!

Everything measured right on schedule with my due date and baby's heartrate was 158. Since Chris or Grady wasn't along, I asked the ultrasound tech to put her guess as to the sex of the baby on the picture of her proof and put it in a sealed envelope. That was the longest trip home from Effingham I have ever taken.

When I got home, Chris and I opened it together and the tech was about 75 - 80% sure that Grady will be getting a baby brother!!! We are very excited (with the exception of Grady who wanted a girl so he wouldn't have to share his toys) and happy to say that 4 months has passed without incident and are looking forward to the next 5 going just as well.

Rain is a Good Thing

Being from the 'sticks,' it should not come as a surprise that my family is a country music loving one. Chris and I recently went to see Jason Aldean and Luke Bryan in concert. Great show, but that is not the point of my post.

Grady has become addicted to singing along with the radio. One of his favorite singers is Luke Bryan. Luke has a new song called Rain. I found the video on youtube so everyone could enjoy. You're welcome. Still not the point.

My point is...while driving to school this morning, it was raining. Grady and I started singing this song.

♫Rain makes corn♫

♫Corn makes whiskey♫

Me to Grady: 'What does whiskey make?'

Grady to Me: 'Whiskey makes the baby in your belly!'

Holy Moses!! I was laughing so hard. If only he knew that it absolutely could have played a part in the baby making. I sure wasn't going to tell him that though. All his class would have thought whiskey is where babies come from.

Welcome

My babycenter email update for the week says:
Welcome to the second trimester!!!
Yeah for me! I made it this far. Thanks to everyone for any prayers that have went up for us during this pregnancy. I think they have made all the difference in the world.
Next appointment is the 29th. Keep those prayers coming and fingers crossed for good news.
And, Christina....no pictures yet. I think I still just look bloated. ;)

10 years

Ten years ago today, Chris and I were married. Sounds like a long time, but I really think it has flown by. Honestly, I don't really remember not being married (or not having Grady).

Happy Anniversary Chris!! I love you!!
